Providing the same benefits as the popular drinking water and heating system, Rautitan, the new Rautitan flex green pipe is a great alternative for customers who are turning to sustainable options, according to the company.

Rautitan flex green uses industry waste, such as vegetable fats or alternative by-products as a renewable feedstock, replacing fossil fuels on a proportional basis. This is proven through its ISCC certification, which is a programme for the circular economy to establish sustainable raw material chains and verify these based on the mass balance approach. Not only does this allow a reduction in fossil fuels, but also significantly helps to decrease the carbon footprint of the pipe.

Reliability is still achieved through a permanently leak-tight connection with fittings and compression sleeves, with the pipe itself being the sealant and no O-rings required. Over 1 billion joints worldwide have been made using this Everloc compression sleeve technology, and a simple visual inspection can be carried out to check that the joint is complete, which speeds up installation times. Its hygienically optimised inner pipe walls and the impermeability of the cavity-free jointing technology ensure that it is just as clean.

The new pipes can help customers demonstrate compliance with ecological, social and economic requirements for the lifecycle of a building that is required through building certifications, such as Breeam. Rehau can help with this process by providing the necessary information in the corresponding Environmental Product Declaration (EPD).

Steve Richmond, Head of Marketing & Technical at Rehau Building Solutions, said: “Our new Rautitan flex green system is just another way we’re shaping a sustainable future by pioneering building solutions worldwide.

“We believe that it’s important that we’re providing customers with real solutions to their sustainability issues, without losing sight on performance. This is why flex green is just as reliable, just as clean and just as flexible as our Rautitan flex offering.

“We understand that our customers need products that help them reach sustainable building certifications and greener goals, which is why we’ve looked at creating viable solutions that help on both fronts.”
