To mark National Apprenticeship Week, running from 9 to 13 March, several industry associations are celebrating the positive impact that apprenticeships can have by showcasing a series of real life apprenticeship career profiles.

The campaign aims to highlight the benefits not only to the individual completing the apprenticeship, but also to the businesses they work for and the wider economy.

“The profiles demonstrate how an apprenticeship can provide individuals with qualifications, career progression, excitement and crucially the experience and opportunity to work in a real life environment – earning and learning,” said Roger Webb, director of the Heating and Hotwater Industry Council (HHIC).

Also championing National Apprenticeship Week by showcasing former apprentices are the Manufacturers' Association of Radiators and Convectors (MARC) and the Energy & Utilities Alliance (EUA).

“We are supporting NAW2015 as we know that we need to do more to improve the status of apprenticeships when compared to university degrees,” said Mike Foster, chief executive of EUA. “An apprenticeship lets you learn and earn at the same time.“
