The All Party Parliamentary Group on Hydrogen (APPG) has launched a new report on how the UK's hydrogen sector can help support economic recovery.

This new report from the APPG, a parliamentary grouping of 31 MPs and Peers, has set out a number of recommendations for government to support and accelerate the growth of the UK's hydrogen sector.

Some of its key recommendations include:

  • Mandate hydrogen-ready boilers by 2025
  • Creation of a cross-departmental hydrogen strategy between government and industry
  • A new regulatory framework to support early deployment and help to commercialise renewable 'green' hydrogen
  • Work with industry to develop a public engagement strategy to ensure the public are aware of and educated on the opportunities and challenges of a hydrogen economy
  • An acceleration in research of hydrogen technology, lest the UK risk its place as a global leader.
