Gas 2019, organised by the Energy and Utilities Alliance (EUA) will feature presentations from Citizens Advice and the Department for Business Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS), the association has revealed.

The event, sponsored by DNV GL, Cadent, Wales and West Utilities, Northern Gas Networks, SGN, and National Grid, takes place on 12 November 2019 at the Jaguar Experience, Birmingham, with an optional manufacturing tour of Jaguar on offer to all delegates afterwards.

Taking centre stage at Gas 2019, and with a focus on ensuring the consumer is central to heat decarbonisation, are: Richard Leyland, Deputy Director - Heat Programme at BEIS; and James Kerr, Senior Policy Advisor at Citizens Advice.

Mike Foster, Chief Executive of the EUA, said: “We are delighted that both Citizens Advice and BEIS are presenting at Gas 2019. This year we have focused our annual gas event on the consumer. With around 15% of UK CO2 emissions coming from how people use heat and hot water at home, we must put the consumer at the heart of heat decarbonisation.

“The biggest challenge in decarbonising heat is that many of the solutions proposed will require changes at a domestic level. Decarbonisation will have to be delivered in the least disruptive way possible and maintain the extremely high reliability that customers are used to.”
