BSS Industrial has joined the apprenticeship scheme run by its parent company, Travis Perkins.

The scheme aims to provide apprentices with the knowledge, skills and behaviour to begin a successful career.

BSS Industrial branches nationwide will be offering the opportunity for local workers to 'earn as they learn' and gain a Retail Apprenticeship at level two, which is equivalent to five GCSEs.

Frank Elkins, managing director for BSS Industrial, said: "We believe apprenticeships are important to give those with little or no experience a solid foundation in the heating and plumbing industry. The apprenticeship scheme will be the ideal method for supporting the industry and securing skills for the future, whilst allowing us to attract the next generation into our own business."

The one-year apprenticeships offer a salary and holiday allowance, plus further training opportunities.

The scheme is open to applicants over 17 years of age who are looking for a future career in the plumbing and heating distribution industry. GCSEs including Maths and English are essential, in addition to communication and teamwork skills.
