Taunton Deane Borough Council has won the Social Housing Compliance Initiative award at the AGSM Gas Safety Awards 2018.

The council was one of the first in the country to install Gas Tag in its 4,500 properties, which provides a solution to audit and track gas appliances, and gas work, in multiple properties.

Richard Wiseman, Property Investment Manager at Taunton Deane, said: “We’re delighted to have won this prestigious award. We first met Gas Tag at last year’s AGSM awards and were so impressed with their technology that we quickly implemented it in our homes.”

Taunton Deane Borough Council has also been shortlisted for Innovative Product and Innovative Project at the upcoming IGEM Gas Safety Awards.

Paul Durose, Chief Executive at Gas Tag, said: "We’re delighted that Taunton Deane Borough Council have won this prestigious national award as a result of installing our pioneering software.

“We are on track to fit Gas Tags in over a million rented homes in the coming months, which means we will be protecting even more tenants from the dangers of unregistered illegal gas fitters.”
