Happy Energy has teamed up with Firebird, to offer its heating engineers access to a multimillion-pound grant-funding scheme, which could allow installers to offer customers Firebird oil boilers completely free of charge.

Through the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) energy companies are obliged to offer grants to households who are in receipt of benefits to upgrade their boilers and heating. Now, thanks to this new partnership, you can offer your own customers free oil boilers and in the future, grants towards the cost of Firebird biomass boilers and air source heat pumps.

The offer is to provide free oil boilers for customers who are in receipt of benefit, in a privately owned or privately rented home (social housing is not eligible). Firstly, ask your customer if they receive any benefits, if they do, they may be entitled to the free Firebird boiler.

The boiler needs to have a fault or be running inefficiently and there needs to be a confirmation by the company of what the faults are and what diagnosis you undertook to identify these.

Happy Energy takes care of all of the paperwork and once approved, we will send you a free Firebird boiler and standard flue for the home to arrive before 10am on the day of installation. Depending on the size of the home, you will then receive a fee to cover the cost of installation, sundry materials and any heating controls that may be needed.

Which customers are eligible?

Customers in receipt of the following benefits would usually be eligible for the free boiler offer:

  • Pension Guarantee Credit
  • Child or Working Tax Credit*
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • Income Support
  • Universal Credit*

(*Customers in receipt of Tax Credits must also meet a maximum income criteria.)
