Gas App UK is hoping to raise more than £10,000 for Breast Cancer Now by walking up Ben Nevis carrying Intergas boilers.

On 28 September, Antony Provan and Matthew Stonehouse, founders of Gas App UK, will scale the 1,345m mountain, all in aid of this worthy charity.

Breast cancer accounts for almost 1,000 deaths each month but, thanks to research funded by charities like Breast Cancer Now, more people are now surviving the disease. Breast Cancer Now is on a mission to ensure that, by 2050, everyone who gets breast cancer will live, which means funding for new research is key.

The two men will walk Ben Nevis' challenging Mountain Track and back again, a journey that usually takes between seven and nine hours, while carrying two Intergas HRE combi compact boilers, painted a delicate shade of pink, on their backs.

The founders of Gas App Uk, which launched six months ago, chose this worthy cause as they, and their colleague Tony Soper, all knew someone who had had it.

Mr Provan explained: "We hadn't realised that almost 140 women are diagnosed with breast cancer every single day, and that's shocking, but we know that not all of them will survive, which is even worse. If there's anything we can do, no matter how small, to help Breast Cancer Now achieve its 2050 goal, we want to do it."

Intergas is supplying the pink boilers as well as the Sherpas, namely managing director Stephen Zouch and sales manager Kevin Ansell. "We know it's going to be an uphill struggle,” said Mr Zouch. "But as far as Mission Pink is concerned, failure's not an option!"
