The Association of Plumbing & Heating Contractors has apologised to BPEC for any misunderstanding it may have inadvertently caused the training body.

The association released a statement apologising to BPEC "for a number of errors and inaccuracies in articles sent to trade magazines in recent months that may have given the impression that it regarded BPEC as having connections to rogue trainers".

It added: "The association recognises that BPEC Certification does not provide training and is specifically there to ensure that assessments are delivered in accordance with the relevant assessment scheme or course rules."

APHC’s deputy chief executive officer, John Thompson, said: "We’re happy to clarify the situation with BPEC because at this time more than any other, the industry must pull together.

"APHC shares BPEC’s commitment to high quality training and I look forward to working together in the future."
