This will be a legal requirement as of July and is also necessary for refrigerant engineers.
Steve Dickson is the training manager for Eastwood Park, which is running extra CITB Construction Skills courses.
Dickson said: "Work on stationary refrigeration and air conditioning equipment will only be possible after 4 July, 2011 with a company and individual certificate as evidence that engineers are fully-compliant and capable of conducting this work.
"We are concerned that many will just leave it too late to qualify, unless they start doing something about it now."
