Pimlico Plumbers is attributing recent growth to the increase in demand from the property market in London.

The company has expanded its workforce by more than 50 employees in recent months, with plans to add a further 20 in the near future, and is targeting annual sales of £24 million for 2014/15 after achieving turnover of £7.2 million for the last quarter of 2014.

“The demand we are seeing for our services is phenomenal,” said Charlie Mullins, founder and chief executive of Pimlico Plumbers. “As soon as we get a new engineer on the road, their job list is full and we need more people. It’s definitely becoming a self-perpetuating cycle. With more planned maintenance and home refurbishment jobs coming in every day, there has undoubtedly been a shift away from the emergency call out-led business model we were operating during the recession.

“However, we were confident the change in the market was due, and we invested in our systems and workforce to ensure we could react quickly.”

Mr Mullins added: “Based on our performance this year, I can see no reason why we can’t hit £24 million turnover by May. Already in January 2015 we’ve had our biggest single week ever with sales of £1.04 million, which is unprecedented. We’ve never rested on our laurels, and our continued growth during the recession is testament to that, which is why I want to go for £30 million in 2015/16!”
