Adcock Refrigeration and Air Conditioning has been awarded a £700k contract to replace the Air Handling Units at Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

The contract, due to commence in February, will see the replacement of the existing Air Handling Unit plants with new specified equipment which serves the specialist eye clinic, pathology department, minor operations, mortuary and neurology department.


Adcock will be installing HTM-03-01 Compliant AirCraft Air Handling Units which are designed specifically for the ventilation of hospitals and healthcare premises where maintaining a flow of fresh, sterile air is critical. Mitsubishi Electric inverter condensers will also be installed along with Trend Control Systems, ductwork and LPHW. Mains electrical works and the replacement of new operating theatre doors will be included in the associated building works.


Adcock, which last year celebrated 50 years of trading, along with recognition from the judges of the RAC Cooling Awards as ‘Contractor of the Year’, beat several other tenders to win the contract.
