The Chartered Institute of Plumbing & Heating Engineering (CIPHE) is asking consumers to take part in a short survey, which aims to find out how safe their plumbing and heating systems are.

At the end of the survey, there are helpful tips to ensure consumers know the best course of action to take when they need to employ a plumber or heating installer.

Danny Davis, operations manager for the CIPHE said: “We know from feedback from members, that they have to carry out a lot of rectification work. Some of this is through botched DIY jobs or using an unqualified, or inexperienced plumber in the first place. In some cases, this has caused a health hazard.

“As a professional body and an educational charity, we are trying to raise awareness of the health and safety issues associated with unmaintained plumbing and heating systems.”
