The Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering (CIPHE) and SummitSkills have launched a survey covering apprenticeships and professional recognition.

The survey looks at how the current apprenticeship system for the plumbing and heating sector is working. It aims to identify support in micro small and medium enterprises (SMEs) for professional recognition.

The initiative is part of a research project funded by the Gatsby Foundation. The findings will feed into the development of the employer driven Trailblazer Apprenticeship Standard for Plumbing and Domestic Heating. An update on this, along with the survery results, will be given at the House of Lords on 29, July 2014.

Kevin Wellman, chief executive officer of CIPHE, said: "We are urging as many people as possible who want to have a say in the future of apprenticeships to go online and fill in the questionnaire. This is your chance to help shape apprenticeships for the plumbing and heating industry."
