Bosch Commercial & Industrial Heating has launched a new gas absorption heat pump training course, specifically aimed at installers, engineers and specifiers.

The one-day course is conducted by the manufacturer’s team of technical training officers, all of whom have vast amounts of experience as heating technicians. The training course combines both practical and theory work to cover all aspects of the application of gas absorption heat pumps, including assembly, installation, fluing, control options, legislative requirements and typical suitability of what is a growing market in the UK.

A key strength of the gas absorption heat pump is that it draws energy from the air using advanced heat pump technology and a highly efficient, low-NOx condensing heat generator. By using natural gas or LPG as its primary energy source, rather than electricity which is generated largely in coal- or gas-fired power stations, the gas absorption heat pump has a significantly lower carbon footprint than comparable equivalents.

The gas absorption heat pump training is carried out at Bosch Commercial & Industrial Heating’s £1.5 million state-of-the-art training and assessment academy at its headquarters in Worcester. The 100m2 academy is equipped with two fully functioning gas absorption heat pumps, allowing delegates to benefit from comprehensive practical and theoretical training with working appliances.

John Neal, senior commercial trainer at Bosch Commercial & Industrial Heating, said: “Gas absorption heat pump technology is still a relatively new concept for the UK and with the emergence of new products and legislation requirements it’s vital that specifiers and installers have access to the knowledge, skills and practical experience needed to use the technology to their advantage.

“Installers, engineers and specifiers will naturally ask questions regarding new technologies and legislation, so it’s of great importance that they have access to training and technical support to help them feel comfortable discussing complex topics.”
