Shower enclosure manufacturer Showerlux UK ceased trading on 23 August, with 16 staff being made redundant.

The company's majority shareholder is a Swiss company which has chosen not to expand its support in view of the company's ongoing losses and the further outlook of the market.

Tim Corfield of Griffin & King has been appointed by the director to assist in calling meetings of members and creditors with a view to placing the company into liquidation in September.

Corfield said that it is too early to say what the outcome as regards creditors would be, but that they would be looking for offers for the company's available assets.

Bob Bowler, Showerlux director, said: "This is a sad day for the company, its staff, its customers and its suppliers. I am sure that the Group is exploring ways and means to provide an after-sales service for our customers in the UK."

Showerlux was incorporated into the UK in 1973 and had a successful manufacturing and wholesale base in Coventry for many years, with over 160 employees at one stage.
