Liquid Gas UK has announced the launch of the Young Person in LPG Awards to champion talent within the LPG industry.

Young Person in LPG is a new initiative, sponsored by Vaillant, that recognises the talented young people aged 30 and under, who are working in the industry. It shines a spotlight on their successes and raises awareness of the opportunities for careers in the sector.

The awards, taking place on the 11 November at the Liquid Gas UK Annual Conference in York, will open for nominations on the 4 August 2021 and close on 10 September 2021.

Nominations to either of the two categories (Rising Star of the Year, or Apprentice of the Year) can be either a person or a company nominating a candidate, or an individual nominating themselves.

Sophia Haywood, Director of Public Affairs at Liquid Gas UK, commented: “Our industry census demonstrated the importance of skills within the LPG industry; we want to highlight the great work that is being done by talented young people and support them on their journey, across all different types of roles.

“We want to celebrate and nurture this new and emerging talent, while also promoting the huge opportunities which are available to people thinking about a career in LPG.

“It’s an exciting time to be joining an industry which is full of innovation and opportunity. I heavily encourage people to apply either for themselves or to recommend a colleague or employee.”

Mark Wilkins, Technologies and Training Director at Vaillant, commented: “As a business that proudly supports installers we understand and recognise the importance of skills development in driving the LPG industry forward helping it reach new heights of success as we head towards a cleaner, greener future.

“We are proud to partner with Liquid Gas UK to support the launch of the Young Person In LPG Awards, recognising the great work that is being done by talented young people within the industry. I encourage people to apply either for themselves or recommend a colleague or employee.”
