Uponor is celebrating a training milestone, with over 2,000 certificates issued since the launch of its on-site installation training programme.
Launched at the end of 2017, Uponor’s on-site installation training programme, which provides bespoke training on the company’s range of products, has issued 2,000 certificates, trained staff from around 300 companies, and provided bespoke on-site training for over 200 projects.
The free, certified training for sub-contractors, mechanical contractors, main contractors, and consultant engineers gives delegates an in-depth understanding of how Uponor’s components work, how to install each of the connection technologies correctly and professionally, how items integrate to provide a complete, safe system as well as advice on tooling. The courses also cover important health and safety aspects of carrying out an installation, including the correct handling of the hydraulic press tools.
“Our training is seen as essential skills development and an essential part of the ongoing support we give to our customers,” said Luciana Kola, Marketing Manager at Uponor. “The success of this training programme is reflected by the number of certificates we have issued in such a short time and shows the popularity of our core products including MLC, Q&E, Ecoflex and underfloor heating systems.”
Uponor’s training courses are free and last between one to two hours, depending on the product category. The course is held on-site which saves on time and cost and allows the content to be tailored to specific requirements. On completion of the course, delegates are given a certificate which is valid for two years.
In addition, Uponor provides one day classroom-based underfloor heating course at the company’s head office in Watford for domestic plumbers looking for more energy efficient and cost-effective heating systems. The course is designed to help small, domestic plumbers make the most of this growing market and focuses on the theoretical elements of underfloor heating including floor constructions, controls, performance values and the unique properties of PEX and MLC pipes.
In addition to the training programme, Uponor also offers CIBSE approved CPDs for consultant engineers to help them meet the training requirements for their CIBSE membership. CPD sessions include how to minimise the heat and energy losses of local and district heating networks and the CIBSE approved water hygiene CPD which focuses on the dangers of stagnant water and the risk of Legionella on the network.
“We have over 100 years’ experience delivering safe drinking water as well as energy efficient heating and cooling systems and understand the challenges specifiers and installers face. Through our training programme and CPD seminars we are able to support our network and help them to apply best practice and provide a professional and exemplary service for their customers, giving them a competitive edge,” Kola added.
