Triton explains how one of its showering solutions was selected to meet a housebuilder’s need to accommodate the demands of multi-generational living for new development of bungalows.

Avocet Place, a newbuild residential development by family run housebuilder and developer, Scott Residential, is a collection of 45 individually designed bungalows based in a scenic, rural location in Colchester, Essex. To ensure it could accommodate the demands of multi-generational living, a reliable and flexible showering solution was required.

With 16 bungalows now complete, and a further 29 plots set to be rolled out during a second phase this year, Scott Residential recognised that there was a need to install products which would cater for those with limited mobility.

To identify the most suitable shower, the housebuilder acknowledged that safety was paramount, but was also eager to take aesthetics and functionality into consideration.

When exploring showering options, Scott Residential consulted with a trusted installer, who was quick to recommend Triton Showers’ Dene Lever Cool Touch Bar Mixer.

The product has been specially designed so that cold water runs across the valve before being mixed, therefore enabling the metal body to remain at a consistently low temperature, preventing the risk of scalding the user. The lever handle also features the same technology as the valve, making it easy to use for those who require extra assistance or have limited movement, such as the elderly, which is Scott Residential’s core market.

Steve Scott, Director at Scott Residential, said: “Our mission is to go above and beyond to deliver residential properties that are at the height of luxury. To achieve this, it’s key that we fit products which not only maximise performance and reliability, but also meet the needs of our buyers. To ensure this happens, we consult with various industry experts to make sure all products selected are the perfect fit.

“Everyday necessities, such as showering, are a priority, and although aesthetics play a key role in the selection of products, it’s also essential that the experience is as safe as possible. Our installer was instrumental in the selection of our showers, basin taps, and bath fillers and, as Triton is an established name within the industry, we knew we were choosing a reliable option.

“Working with a recognised brand offers complete reassurance that the products will be of a high standard and will do the job for all ages first time round, while also providing ease of installation and removing the potential for any issues or additional costs on the job.”

With a focus on traditional building methods and a commitment to exceeding expectations, Scott Residential communicates with the customer to ensure they are involved at the early stages and are aware of any developments throughout the project. This enables them to have a direct influence on the design of their property and the products selected.

Steve continued: “It’s really important that we listen to those who will be living in the properties, as we are designing them specifically for the end-user’s needs. By ensuring these homes include premium products with state of the art technology, we can accommodate for a wide range of requirements, ensuring they don’t have to compromise style over safety.”

With a shift in household demographics as the younger generation opts to live at home for longer and the elderly increasingly move back in with their adult children,

Scott Residential wanted to ensure its bungalows at Avocet Place catered for all. Steve concluded: “We’re seeing more people downsizing as they grow older, but we also recognise that households are made up of people of all ages. By working with brands we can trust, and selecting quality products, such as the Dene range from Triton, we are able to meet the needs of the entire family.”

Paul Rowley, Approvals & Training Manager at Triton, added: “Thanks to its ‘cool touch’ technology and durable design, the Dene mixer shower is an ideal solution for premium residential developments, such as Avocet Place. The lever handles were designed with the end-user in mind, so they are easy to grip and turn, providing added reassurance to residents. It also benefits the plumber, as it comes complete with all the necessary fittings for any installation, from flexible tap connectors to a slotted waste.

“As the development moves into its second phase, we look forward to continue working alongside Scott Residential and help to meet its objective of delivering luxurious living for the local community.”
