OFTEC-registered heating technicians looking to expand into the renewables market can find out how to make the most of this business opportunity thanks to a new series of free, interactive virtual briefings hosted by OFTEC, in partnership with MCS.
Content for the three short sessions have been developed in response to feedback from technicians and will focus primarily on heat pump technologies.
The webinars, which launch on 12 March, start with an insight into the heat pump market and the policies that are expected to drive a huge expansion of the renewables sector during the 2020s, offering an exciting opportunity for heating installers.
The second session will offer practical guidance by a professional heat pump technician, demonstrations of a basic install covering the key points to look out for, and valuable tips of the trade. The hour-long session will include a Q&A on both air source and ground source heat pumps.
The final webinar will cover the steps involved in becoming MCS-registered. Technicians can also find out about the support and training available to become a certified heat pump installer and, once qualified, how they can best promote heat pump solutions to customers.
OFTEC’s Head of Registration, Adrian Lightwood, said: “OFTEC, working closely with MCS, has offered registration in renewable heating technologies, including air and ground source heat pumps, since 2014.
“While OFTEC remains committed to liquid fuels and the development of a renewable replacement for heating oil, we know that heat pumps will undoubtedly play a key role in meeting the UK’s target of net-zero emissions by 2050. So, we want to make sure technicians know what they need to do to qualify as an installer and capitalise on every aspect of this evolving market.
