Now in its 100th year, Mira Showers has announced the launch of a new wastewater heat recovery system.

This device uses heat from the bathroom wastewater to increase the efficiency of domestic heating systems, allowing them to consume less energy.

As hot water demand is now included to the Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) regulations for 2025, Mira’s HeatCapture will help specifiers and developers ensure building projects are in line with these regulations from the onset by increasing the overall hot water efficiency of a home by up to 10%, as well as offering KIWA-approved efficiencies of up to 65%, according to the company.

Conforming to EN1717, the Mira HeatCapture is designed with a double wall, stainless steel heat exchanger; the only one of its kind currently available on the market in the UK, the company claims. The ridged stainless steel core ensures water draining from a shower tray or a tub clings to the sides of the tube and transfers its heat to the cooler, incoming mains.

Tested and certified by WRAS, KIWA, BRE, as well as being SAP-registered, the Mira HeatCapture has undergone rigorous testing and validation. Once installed, the system requires no further maintenance by the homeowner.
