This Editor's Comment is from our October 2019 issue.

It’s that time of year again; when summer’s over, the temperature starts to drop, and suddenly many of you find yourselves dashing from house to house, sorting out all manner of heating-related woes for customers across the country.

In short, it’s a busy time of year. We at HVP certainly appreciate you sparing what little time you have to flick through the latest edition of the magazine, especially as we do believe it’s important to keep up to date with the latest happenings in your industry. However, I’d like to make a further request of your time.

Giving up a day of work (and potentially earnings) to go to a trade show may sound counter-productive, but it could save you a lot of time and money in the long run. By attending an exhibition, you could potentially learn about a new product that saves you buckets of time, or find out about some impending legislation which could have a major impact on your business.

This month sees the launch of this year’s PHEX Manchester, on 16-17 October at Manchester United’s Old Trafford stadium. The show is a great opportunity for plumbing and heating professionals to speak to top manufacturers, learn about new technology, catch-up with industry colleagues, and even get a free lunch and free stadium tour. We’re involved in the planning of the show and have helped to line up an engaging seminar programme full of useful insight to help you do your job better.

But that’s not all, as we will be welcoming visitors back to Stamford Bridge stadium on 13-14 November, for PHEX Chelsea. The event is our biggest of the year, with not only the aforementioned free lunch and stadium tour, but also a whole host of merchant partners such as Wolseley, Plumbase, and HPS in attendance.

As mentioned earlier this year, 2019 marks PHEX’s 25th anniversary, and we kicked it off with a successful show at the new Tottenham Hotspur stadium in June. Feedback from attendees was positive, as this visitor commented: “A great opportunity to further product knowledge and to meet preferred suppliers”. Another attendee said: “Really good event, learned a lot of new ideas. Silly to miss out”.

We are confident that PHEX Manchester and Chelsea will prove every bit as useful for visitors, so even though you might have to give up a day of work to attend the show, we hope you’ll realise that what you’ll get out of the experience as a whole will more than make up for it.
