New Forest District Council is inviting small- and medium-sized construction companies to a supplier engagement event in Ringwood on 30 March, to learn more about upcoming small work contracts to the value of £5,000.

The free event will be hosted by Constructionline, a UK procurement and supply chain management scheme, at The Ringwood Gateway Public Offices, Ringwood, to provide small businesses with valuable introductions to members of the Council's procurement team.

The council is seeking electricians, plumbers and plasterers, among other trades, for a Minor Works Framework which will provide reactive and planned maintenance work on its property estate, with individual projects set to be worth up to £5,000.

The event will provide an opportunity for subcontractors to meet with representatives from Constructionline and the Council to discuss the background to the framework and its objectives, as well as project requirements.

Vicky Chamlet, client relationship manager at Constructionline, said: "It's great to see the council supporting the local economy by looking for subcontractors from around the area. We find that many buyers are looking for suppliers on their doorsteps but are finding it tough to engage with them – that's what our events are all about, bringing the two parties together."

Geoff Bettle, head of property services at New Forest District Council, added: "We're keen to create a supply chain for small value works so this is an important event for those who are looking to win work with us. Our procurement teams will walk subcontractors through our requirements and be on hand to answer any questions on how best to apply. We encourage all local construction firms across the district to come along and find out about the work on offer."

The event will run from 9am until 12.30pm and suppliers do not have to be a Constructionline member to attend. For more information or to register interest, go to www.constructionline.co.uk/events.
