Daniel Watkins has been named the 2020 Installer Hero in Conex Bänninger’s search for "the UK’s most selfless plumbing and heating professionals".

Daniel, who runs D Watkins Plumbing & Heating, in Potters Bar, Hertfordshire, was chosen by darts legend Bobby George as the overall winner for "going the extra mile" in support of key workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Along with the Installer Hero 2020 trophy, Daniel has won a REMS press machine and B profile jaw set, a selection of >B< Press fittings, and Conex Bänninger merchandise.

From supporting key workers with discounted boiler repairs and replacements, to offering round the clock service, Daniel impressed Bobby with his selfless acts throughout both nationwide lockdowns.

Daniel said: “I was really surprised and honoured to find out that I was selected as the 2020 Installer Hero. This year has been tough for everyone and I wanted to do my bit to support the front-line NHS staff who have been working exceptionally hard in really difficult circumstances.”

Conex Bänninger says it launched the competition to recognise plumbing and heating engineers who had gone above and beyond to help their local community during these challenging times.

As well as choosing Daniel, Bobby also selected three runners-up: Matthew Walker of Daley Plumbing and Heating, Matthew Soar of Multifuel Heating, and Frankie Barea of Elite Heat, who will receive a £100 Amazon voucher each.

Bobby said: “I was honoured to have been asked by Conex Bänninger to judge the Installer Hero awards. There were some really great nominations, which made it a tough call. Daniel’s nomination struck out as he really put others in his local community before himself by offering discounted rates to NHS staff and working seven days a week to make sure all of his customers were not left without a working heating system.”
